My 'Fashionable Art Show' will be showing April 19 - May 7th at Art Access Gallery in Salt Lake City, Utah. 

It will be the last time I show my work in Utah before I move to Ohio this Summer. All my purses displayed will be for sale.

MFA Thesis Show

     Over the last year, while creating dozens of handbags out of clay, I've come to the conclusion that fashion is art. The same amount of artistic expression goes into creating handbags as it does pottery or a painting. Inspired by designer handbags, I create them out of clay. This gives me the opportunity to elevate the status of the handbag from just an accessory to an art object by placing them on pedestals and installing them in galleries. 

     By sculpting the clay to look as if it is a real handbag, I can place them in a fashion setting. This creates tension between the art object and fashion object opening up a dialog between them.

      

Thanks to all who participated in my ceramic purse photo shoot. It really turned out great!
